Two Arrests Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

The assault caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, as stated by law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties on suspicion of theft and assault close to the location. He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
